PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN  that the Board of Commissioners of Township of Plains, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania will hold a Public Meeting on October 13, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Second Street Fire Station, 50 Second street, Plains, Pa. The purpose of the Public Meeting is to receive public comment regarding the proposed Zoning Map/Ordinance Amendments including following:

Amendments to the original Zoning Ordinance to create zoning district for windmills, solar farm and data centers and related uses within a designated Technology/Energy District as follows:

  2. Revised Conditional Use terms set forth in 27-512. 2 and submission requirements §27-
  1. Revised Building and Environmental Performance Standards §27-706.1(1) and (3)
  2. Revised Decommissioning Plan criteria 27-706.1.M
  3. Added 27-706.2 for Supplemental Overlay Standards for dimensional requirements, density bonus, open space, applicable to §§27-716, -717, -718, -719, and -720
  1. Revised portions Setbacks, Dimensional and Form Standards in context of §27-706.2 addition §716. A.
  2. Revised Energy Usage Plan criteria 27-716.1.B
  3. Revised ancillary power infrastructure criteria 27-717.8.G
  4. Revised Accessories Solar Energy System criteria 27-718
  5. Added criteria phrasing and references to applicability of development on a Unified Track.

available for public inspection by calling the Township of Plains office at 570-829-3439 during regular business hours, and on the Township of Plains website: https://www.plainstownship.org. and the Luzerne County Legal Register. All interested parties are welcome to attend the public meeting, any Plains Township residents and property owners are invited to attend and provide public comment regarding the proposed amendments.
